Tick Bite Treatments

If you find that your pet is in need of a dog tick bite treatment, there are a number of options to choose from. One way is the use of natural herbs. These herbs come in a number of forms including creams, powders and oils. Some people also use kerosene and smoke, though these last two methods are not recommended as they can cause harm to your dog.

There are many over-the-counter treatments that are not natural, but still are very effective. They can be kind of harsh and have a strong aroma, so it may be necessary that you give your dog a good washing after you have applied the treatment and it has had a chance to soak in the skin.

Another very simple dog tick bite treatment is to place alcohol on the tick (this stuns them) and then pull it off with gloved hands. Make sure that you check your dog a few times so that you are sure that have found all of the ticks. If you find that your dog does not exhibit any other dog tick symptoms such as fever, lethargy, loss of appetite and skin infections, then this may be all that needs to be done. However, if you do notice these symptoms, it is important that you get your dog checked out at their vet so that the proper dog tick treatment can be administered.

A dog tick bite treatment will be most effective if you discover the tick infestation as soon as possible. The longer that it takes for you to find the ticks, the more at risk your dog or puppy is for health problems and even death. Therefore, you should check your dog regularly for ticks and look out for any symptoms that might suggest that they have Lyme disease such as fever, lethargy, loss of appetite, infection of the skin and even arthritis.
